Using IVAUCHER

The subscription for merchants is simple and free of charge. To join they only need to communicate their TIN and the ID of their automatic payment terminals (APT) free of charge on the IVAucher site. After joining the program, they do not have to do anything else and will not have any intervention in the refund process to the taxpayer.

Since October 1 it is already possible to use the IVAucher discounts. Remember that only those consumers who, between June and August, asked for an invoice with their tax number when paying for expenses incurred in three specific sectors are eligible for the program: accommodation, culture and restaurants.

To begin with, you need to know how much money you have to spend. Go online to the e-invoice portal and, on the page where the amounts calculated for each of the sectors of activity are displayed, the amount achieved in the IVAucher also appears. The amount saved corresponds to the total VAT that was paid, for example, in the restaurant, hotel or even when buying a book.

HOW TO CASH THE BALANCE

To use this money, you must join the program on the "IVAucher.pt" platform until December 28, 2021, where you must register your tax identification number, name, email address and cell phone number, and link one or more bank cards.

To use the IVAucher balance, simply make a payment with the card that was indicated when joining the program until December 31, 2021.

The consumer pays the full amount of the purchase and then receives up to 50% of that amount in the account associated with the card used to make the payment. The refund can take place up to two business days after the payment has been.

Although there is no limit to the use of the IVAucher balance, for each transaction, the amount deducted from the balance cannot exceed 50% of the amount that has been paid. For example, in a transaction of €10, €5 can be deducted from the accumulated balance.

ADHESIONS PRIOR TO SEPTEMBER 8TH

Consumers who signed up by September 8 will need to give new express consent to the new IVAucher mode in order to benefit from the Program. To do so, consumers will need to log back into their IVAucher account where a new terms and conditions page will be presented.

PARTICIPATING ESTABLISHMENTS

The participating merchants are those that offer consumers the possibility to discount the IVAucher balance in their establishment.

The tax authorities' suggestion is that the establishments should visibly affix the IVAucher stamp on the front door.

It is easy to identify: it is a rectangular sticker, with a blue background, where you can read: IVAucherin large letters, and in smaller letters in white: The VAT that comes and goes.
